The analytics research and marketing that goes into understanding our stories and sharing them more effectively is still a form of “grind”, but you’re right — it does help disconnect is from the writing grind.

Copyblogger maps out a “sample day” example of a writer that is running a business, but I think it’s also helpful for those who spend time just focused on Medium:

  • Responding to work emails
  • Writing for practice
  • Writing for clients (or Medium)
  • Meeting with clients
  • Reading blogs about writing, content marketing, and your industry (if you write for a specific niche)

The one thing I’d add here is Writing for social media! I currently focus my efforts on just Twitter and LinkedIn, but I think engaging with other writers directly in the comments on Medium might yield better results.

Great story!
